What is Parents for Transition?
The mission for Parents for Transition is to educate and empower parents/guardians and youth impacted by invisible disabilities. Participants will be provided the tools to develop collaborative relationships with members of K-12 educational systems and be exposed to community resources.
Parents will learn how to develop realistic goals for their child after high school graduation, which Special Education Laws may pertain to their child’s disability, what services and supports their child may be eligible for and guide the parent on how to teach their child how to ask for services and supports on their own.
Parents for Transition (PFT) offers 6-week and 8-week programs designed for parents raising children with invisible disabilities.
Another 6-week program offered is Youth for Independence (YFI) which is crafted for 12-22 year olds with invisible disabilities.
